Reid Miles – American Graphic Designer

One of my early exposures to graphic design was via the vinyl record collections of my mother, uncle, and aunt. It was here I was swept up in the visceral nature of holding a square of exquisite illustration and typography that always had a slightly sweet and musty smell.

The conventional wisdom is that in the era of digital music distribution there really is no need for visual design on the music consuming end of music. I agree somewhat but I also believe that the digital medium can expand the music experience by reintroducing analog projects as a means to increase the value of the music purchase.

Over these next few articles, I’ll first be exploring the pioneers of design and art in general, but I’ll be dedicating a significant amount of time exploring the masters of album cover design and art. This week I wanted to talk a little about Miles Reid.
